Dear Area 3E and 3G Regions,

The Area 3E 15th Annual A.Y.S.O. Select Sevens Tournament will be held on Saturday June 14 for Boys and Girls U-10 and U-12 divisions at Utica Proctor Park Please review the information below.

Tournament Format

The tournament is planned to be round robin format with short-sided games, 7 v 7, in all divisions. Games will usually last 20 minutes with a short half-time break. Substitutions may be made at half time and, quickly, at a stoppage in play near half way through each half. Free substitutions will not be allowed. Maximum players per team roster is 12.

Participation will generally be limited to 6 - 8 teams per division and Regions participating last year will be invited to return. If more than 8 or more teams enter a division, the tournament committee may create two or more separate divisions, or may adopt a different format to accomodate time and field limitations (for example, with 8 teams, two 4-team divisions and a playoff format may be used).

Player Eligibility

Players must be registered with their A.Y.S.O. region and must have participated in the current year Spring  season on a regular basis. (If the home region does not have a Spring Season then the players must have participated in the previous Fall season on a regular basis). Players must meet the maximum age requirement for their division.

Player Selection

When selecting players for a tournament team, each Region should use a process that is fair and open to all players, and provides as much participation for the players of that region as possible. During the tournament, Coaches should ensure that all players receive as much playing time as possible. Every player should play at least half of the available playing time at the tournament.

Regional Teams

Regions may enter a second team in a single division,  (for example, two U10 girls teams) but since we want to encourage participation by as many regions as possible,  the region should identify a primary team and a secondary team. After the cutoff date for registrations, the region will be notified if the secondary team has been accepted.

Team Registration

To enter teams in the tournament, please follow the directions on this Web site.
