The Area 3E-3G Sevens Select Side Tournament

Select Side Tournament Results

June 4 and June 18, 2005

The sixth annual Area 3E - 3G Sevens Select Side Tournament was held June 4, at Herkimer Elementary School, and June 18 at Westmoreland Town Park, Town of Russia (Kyahoora) Town Park, and the New Hartford Athletic Park fields. U16 and U19 divisions this year played on June 4 and were hosted by Area 3G. U10, U12 and U14 divisions played on June 18 at the Area 3E locations.

A total of xx teams in ten divisions participated in the tournament: U10 Girls, U10 Boys, U12 Girls, and U12 Boys. U14 Girls, U14 Boys, U16 Girls, U16 Boys, U19 Girls and U19 Boys.  For the first time in the 5 years of this tournament it did not rain, although it was very hot June 4.  A special thanks to all of the referees and assistant referees who participated. The officiating was excellent. Note, 3 divisons had ties for first place in points and were decided based on goals scored. Two other divsions were decided by a point or less to determine first and second place.

The rankings below indicate the results of the round robin format. Each team was awarded 1 point for winning the first or second half of a game and one point for winning the entire game. Half a point was awarded for a tie. (For example, if Team A scored 2 goals in the first half, but none in the second half, against team B who scored no goals in the first half and 1 goal in the second half, then Team A would be awarded 2 points, and team B would receive 1 point for the round). 1.5 points were awarded for a bye. We also recorded goals scored and goals scored against, to use as tie breakers.

Girls U10

Nine teams participated in the Girls U10 division. Teams were organized into groups of 3. Each group of 3 played round robin and the leaders of each group played round robin to determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The second place teams and 3rd place teams from each original group also played round robin consolation games. For the overall U-10 Girls division Clinton took first place, Utica was second, and Sauquoit was 3rd.
